Wynyard's new arena is now open!

The town of Wynyard was anxiously looking forward to its next skating season in its new arena. The new arena also serves as the clubhouse for the adjacent golf course starting in the 2020 season. The arena was completed, with it's grand opening happening on October 25, 2019.

The Wynyard Co-operative became involved after the town of Wynyard sought submissions for naming rights to the new facility. Negotiations began with the Wynyard Co-operative, which ultimately led to the final proposal of a major donation of $400,000.00. The arena now showcases its new name: Co-operative Place

General Manager for the Wynyard Co-op, Bob Nienaber, was pleased with the Co-op's part in bringing the log-awaited arena to its completion. "Co-ops have been a big part of the community, and certainly something we want to be a part of for years to come. The name Co-operative Place goes beyond a sponsorship; it was a co-operative effort to get it put together, it was a co-operative effort to fundraiser for the facility, and defiantly it is going to be a co-operative effort moving forward with volunteering to help out at different functions."
